Category and image-list is "empty"

Hi.
I've been searching through forums and manual, maybe I just fail to see it, but I can't find an explanation
Here's how it is:
Whenever I try to make a category, it does not show up in the category list afterwards.
(But the categories I've created ARE visible in the dropdown-menu.)
Same with images.
They upload fine (files are present on server), no error messages, but;
No pictures shows up in the picture-list. I've uploaded 50+ now, in various ways, none shows up in my list.
What am I doing wrong?
