Hey there,
i have a quastion about the category list:

At my website there are two main categories: Gallery (with my best fotos) and privat album (with fotos of my friends)
In both categories are sub-categories
If i make a link to the category list, all categories are visible.

My Question: Is there any possibility to differentiate between the main catories, so that there is a list of the Gallery and a list of the privat album (separated)?

I found a simple way to do this:
At the gerneral settings there are to fields at the category view (at the top) where you can hide or were your show categories. (i don't know how they are called, because i have joomla in german). There you can register the categorie IDs. Its easy and it works

you can create two menu items with Phoca Gallery Category Layout for the two main categories.

Hmm i didn't find something for that.

I can only choose the category at the picture list. There is a dropdown menue with the categories.
But if i want to make the category list the isn't a way to choose.

Title:=Gallery
Published:=Yes
Access Level:=Public
-- > Parameters (Basic) -->
Select category=Gallery
Save you settings!

Select category=privat album

Now you have two new menu items in Main Menu. One public (with your best fotos) and one for registered users (if you like) only.
You should now hide your menu item Phoca Gallery Categories Layout ( but you still need it to get valid itemIDs). See: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... -component

What you told me is possible if i choose the category layout. I don't want the picture layout.

I want the categories view (Category list). The style of this one is better. In this layout i can't choose the category. All categories are visible from the privat sector and the gallery sector mixed.

I want categories view (Category list) separated. One for the privat sector and one for the gallery. I don't want the picture layout for the main categories. only for the subcategories.

Here an example:

-Privat (categroy list/view) maincategorie 1
--2010 Birthday xy (picture list)
--2010 christmas .. (picture list)
--...

-gallery (category list/view) maincategorie 2
--Animals (picture list)
--landscape (picture list)
--...

I want the categories view (Category list). The style of this one is better.

Than try to create two menu items with categories view and configure the Parameters (Component).
Display Subcategories=Yes
Display Empty Categories=Yes
Show Categories=(Gallery ID) or (privat album ID)
