is there an option or plugin that would allow multiple download?

It is a very Brilliant idea. actually multiple download is a very important lack of phocaDownload.
but it should be kind of Download basket. and a new icon with the name of "Add to backet Download"
and in "Basket download Page" all of downloads can be delete or even added...

because if like Link in Above post only one categories can be in option. but in download basket , all categories and section are available.

Added Multiple Upload feature to Administration. Plupload library is used. The following methods are supported:
Flash Uploader (with or without Chunk feature)
Gears Uploader
Silverlight Uploader
HTML 4 Uploader
HTML 5 Uploader
Browserplus Uploader

We were talking about Multiple Download not multiple Upload!
anyway Multiple Upload is a good feature.still Multiple download is more important required feature.

Hi, sorry, I don't know any multiple download feature, so I didn't think about multiple download

But I can imagine, it can be very dangerous to use some multiple download function for public as then your server can be easily overloaded

for overloading you can add a feature for administrator, to make decision which group can use multiple download..

Hmm, not sure if open source project can release such feature as it can be dangerous in case, the pagination will be change to some large amout and all files will be selected (e.g. by robot). then the server can be easily attacked with brute force method (send request to download all files in short time can cause crashing the server, I think )


So then there needs to be some warning - e.g. use it only for registered, etc.

I will take a look at this feature.

What about maybe adding that option but not when browsing download categories? For instance, the site I'm working on is structured in such a way that all the documents are inside articles, meaning no file is added to the download section without it having a corresponding article - I have to add every download to the article. So, the user reads an article with corresponding downloads, but he can also view the entire download section, containing all the downloads.

Perhaps if you modified your content plugin, so that we have checkboxes inside articles? As majority of sites have similar structure as mine, I can imagine it being very useful to most of the people, but wiithout taking a too big of a hit on their servers.
