Need Phoca Gallery help

In advance, my apologies if this is the wrong forum to post to.

I don't need help with installing Phoca Gallery, or any of the other fine offerings, I need help in getting a Phoca Gallery (or something) customized for a totally different set of requirements. I am a digital archivist creating a Joomla 1.5 site to display documents as diverse as court records and newspapers from the 19th Century. This also includes books long out of copyright.

A traditional Intenet photo gallery will not suffice. If an administrator would be so kind as to send a private e-mail to the e-mail address in my account I would appreciate it immensely. Then I could send a link to a site I developed that is not CMS. That site is pure HTML and CSS and sorely needs CMS to speed things up.

Thank you in advance and again, my apologies.

Jan,

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to respond to my posting. I don't have permissions to reply to your PM to which I must respond on the forum. Being a newbie to the site I can understand the reluctance to give up such permissions.

The site I am trying to bring up to date, and for which I desperately need Joomla can be found here http://brethrenarchives.com/newspapers/ ... s/001.html. The site relies heavily on my own design which was all hand coded page by page. The metadata is extremely important to my non-profit (digital archivist) activities which can be seen by clicking on the "Image Info" button. Having another 10,000 or so images needing the same treatment I decided to go with Joomla over other CMSs. I am testing another site using articles to display a small record set and it is too cumbersome.

After looking around at Joomla it immediately became apparent that Phoca was the way to go. Problem is that no where could I find a plugin that would work with my metadata (and a lot of it!) as well as the other things needed. I am either going to hand code the needed master XML file for each record set or find (somewhere!) a commercial program to extract the metadata from a record set into on larger XML file.

If you're interested I need to be bumped up with PM reply / compose message status to continue. Or if you might know a commercially available plugin that will do it please, please let me know.

Hi, I think, I cannot help you with some modification (in case you will select Phoca Gallery) because of my time issue :( but I can help you if you will have some question here in the forum.

Not sure what exactly you mean with metadata, e.g. on your site, I see no meta data.

In Phoca Gallery you can set meta keywords and meta description to the images, you can use e.g. descritpion too.
