Hi, maybe you should check your server settings (if there are no limits), try to search this forum, there are some useful info about this.

I have the same problem. I have zipped (rar files) which are VIDEO_TS files in a zip , of size 600MB, 900mb, 2GB, 4GB each zip file etc (these are films and videos) Altough downloading works in my local host it doesn't work on the remote host.
On the remote host it works only for small files like a pdf file.
I contacted the hosting site support team, I asked them if they have any restrictions on the size of downloaded files they went through my problem and they gave me the following answer :

'There is no size restrictions for download file in our server. It seems to be the issue related to customer scripting. Phoca Download is a download manager for Joomla which includes component, modules and plugins and allows to add files to the site which can be downloaded by other users. Since we are a hosting service provider, we don’t provide any assistance in debugging the issues related to the third party applications. I suggest you to contact the Phoca Download vendors or refer to their documentation for further investigation. '

You can try the following URL , trying to download one of these files to see what I mean. It doesn't come up with eroor but
it comes up with a blank web page waiting there for ever doing nothing.

IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH FILES OF LARGE SIZE WHEN PHOCA DOWNLOAD WORKS ON A REMOTE HOST ??
Thanking you in advance for your help !!

Hi, you have answered it by yourself. No. Localhost is in fact the same server as your hosting serves. It depends on server settings. Phoca Download only gives information between your server and users browser. It means, Phoca Download gets a request by user and display the path to the file on your server, then your server communicates with users browser. If there is some limit, then it should be set somehwere on the server. You can set limits in Phoca Download too - but they are limits for upload. Server limits are more than component limits.

I don't know the remote server, so I cannot really say if there are some limits or not. But if you get no problems on localhost, this means, the script has no limits (in other case you are not able to work it on your localhost)

So really cannot say, but I think, it should not be the problem of script :-( :-(

Thanks for your answer and first of all I would like to wish you Merry Christmas for today !!!

There is no limit from the hosting site as they confirmed and I checked that myself, because I replaced Phoca download with a simple ftp url from our website and it does ftp to these same files properly !
But is Phocadownload in fact doing the same with ftp ? Because I noticed that ftp asks for user and password, whereas phocadownload it doesn't.
Unfortunately , at a moment I can't find a solution with Phoca download and I have to replace it by ftp urls straight to the files.

Have you ever tried to use Phoca download for so large files from a remote host ? I think other people in the same thread had the same problem.
Thank you anyway for your help !

Hi, not sure what exactly you mean with remote hosts, but if you mean standard webhosting then it is confirmed by many users that there is no problem. Mostly I get question about large files which were solved by removing the server limits.

But personally, I have tested it only on one server and there it was working, but I must say I am not server expert, so cannot really say, something is wrong on the server, or is not wrong :-( :-(
