HeyHo, I´m new here
I think about using this gallery for my website. At this moment I use a "4images"-Standalone-Gallery, but I´m going to transform my old website into a joomla-based one, so I want to have a suitable gallery.
My old gallery has up to this day about 130 categories with over 6000 pictures, and it´s getting more every year.
Is this gallery able to handle such amount of pics?
And in my old gallery I´ve coded a restriction for "no image-download". Even no rightclick or any possibility to get the original files (semi-professional sportpics). Of course, a screen-capturing software could do this, but I don´t want to make it too easy for stealing pics. A huge watermark is another possibility, but it often "destroys" the pictures view.

Are there any possibilities for disabling rightclicks or to put a blank image over the originals? Users should only look at the pics but neither hotlink nor download them for personal use.

Hope it will be possible because this gallery seems to be very functional for me

Hi, there should not be any problem with 130 categories and 6000 images. As Phoca Gallery uses pagination, there is no problem with images amount. The problem can be with categories. The pagination is used for categories but, because they can have unlimited count of levels, the tree must be created (because of it all categories needs to be loaded - to create the tree - this is a common programming/performace issue). But there should not be problem with e.g. 500 categories etc.

Rightclick is a fake protection, in fact this is a protection for webmasters who don't know the interent. They can sleep well because of their ignorance. Javascript solution is not a protection. It can be set off by one click (Image which is displayed on user's browser is loaded in user's PC - protecting it after this loading with javasript is humorous ).

There are different ways how to protect images. Search this forum (e.g. to protect the folders where the images are stored).

The best way I think is (of course this will limit some features, but ):

- to remove original images from the server (some of the features will be not working in Phoca Gallery - see warning text here: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ntegration )
- add watermark to large thumbnails.
