I want to password protect categories so only certain users can view them but I want all categories to be shown and only ask for a password when a user tries to click on the thumbnail.

The application is for a photography website that people vist, look for the category they need and then click to view and be prompted to log in.

If I password protect a category and a user visits without logging in then there are no categories shown.

Hi, you can display the categories which are protected. The category image gets the "lock" as information it is locked.
