here's a screen grab of what i get when i search for the title of the first file in the list:



and here are my results, there were no suggested results (auto-complete):


if i search for the keyword "general" by itself, multiple auto-complete suggestions come up and here are the search results, none of which are my phoca files:



so clearly the search box itself is working... my site is indexed. but it's NOT pulling the phoca files into the search results. am i understanding the situation correctly???

No you have not. The screenshot is from my test site, not from yours.
I just wanted to show you, that the Phoca Download Plugin Finder works in my test environment.
So my search string have nothing to do with your site.
I seek for pdf on your site and nothing was found. So double check if your Phoca Download files are really indexed.
Means, they must be listed in backend --> Components Smart Search --> Smart Search: Manage Indexed Content

Not sure what happened, but I went back and re-indexed my site in smart search and now the phoca download files appear in search results. thanks for all your help!
