Hi birdie, detail images are displayed only in popups in Phoca Gallery so there is no place to display it here...

the problem is, there is geotagging only for categories not for pictures :-(

Hi everybody, Hi Jan,

I use PhocaGallery on a professional website and it's great : http://www.brigitteenguerand.com/dev (still on process).
The only thing I miss is an automatic import of XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) from JPEG edited with Photoshop or Aperture... such as comments or subject, date, author... import in the Description area.

I was about to post on the forum when I found this post, so I just want to insist on the interests at stake. ;-)

Thank you,

Anne

Now I am working on EXIF data (it is not so easy becasue of a lot of different formats and values) so I hope in the next release EXIF information will be there and then I will take a look on IPTC (this will be more difficult than EXIF :-( )

Thanks for having answered my question.

The type of data I use is not EXIF or IPTC but a third one, XMP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible ... a_Platform) but I guess it's not the more spread since it's a newer one.
Nevermind. I regularly visit your website so I will check the new release.
Unless I can convert the XMP data into EXIF or IPTC data....

Good night !

Anne

I second that. I am just trying out phoca gallery and I am quite impressed so far. But I also think that to import IPTC or XMP data should be a big addition to make this program even more great. If you can import IPTC data and make them searchable imagine how powerful this extension can be. You can find alot of information on the Internet about IPTC or XMP. All the offline catalog database use it (ACDsee 2.5 Pro, IDimager, Expression Media, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, etc) It is just a so great feature to search images based on those IPTC fields.

Congratulation on the component, it a gem.

Best

Cristian

Hi all,

i agree with 7polo9. I would be a very nice function to be able to create dynamic album using IPTC tags. I used to have this feature with a gallery i used in the past : phpwebgallery which is now called piwigo.
Just give a try at there demo here http://piwigo.org/demo/ for inspiration. Look at the tags of picture and click on one. you'll see it creates dynamic categories and it's pretty cool for people using tags.

I would also like to use IPTC for caption retrieval. I use picasa and acdsee on my computer and documents the caption. So it would be nice to be able to import this caption.

I know it's a lot but if it can gives you ideas...

Hi all together,

I am new to Joomla and , obviously, to Phoca. I found this tool great. Import of XMP data would be a great deal, particularly because modern cameras with built-in geotagging are up to come.

However, I would like to suggest the use of the 'alternate Language' feature in XMP to store the picture's description in different languages inside the pictures. Here a snippet from the Exiftool man-page
exiftool -xmp:description-de='kühl' -E dst.jpg
Write alternate language for XMP:Description, using HTML character
escaping to input special characters.
Please note how diacritics are handled .... This reads 'kühl' in German language.

This should be read-out at import and transferred to the database (Joomfish translatable). Upon downloading the picture I suggest to write the meta-data back to XMP to make sure that editing inside Joomla is represented.

Best regards

Wolfgang

Hi, sorry maybe I don't understand it correctly, but Phoca Galellery does not create EXIF it only reads the information from the EXIF
