Image settings & optimal size

Post by Ol2v »

Hi everyone,

I am using Phoca Cart 3.5.4.

I have noticed that the images I have uploaded (which are neat before uploading) for my products appears a little bit blurry on the front end.
Any idea what is the reason? Are there specific dimensions to respect?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
Are there specific dimensions to respect?
The height and width of the original image shouldn't be smaller than the height and width of the large thumbnail.

Kind regards,

Hi,
Thank you for your answer Benno.

Yes, height and width are bigger than the thumbnail size but still, the uploaded pic is not neat.

By any chance, do you know if it is possible to change the main thumbnail size (items view)?
It is rectangular by default and all my pictures are square which does not go well together, the images are not properly centered.
Here is the link of my site to be more precise: https://littleturtle.blueturtlehotel.co ... /boutique4

As you can see, the bracelets are not properly centered. Any idea how I can solve this?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
you can change the size of thumbnails in Phoca Cart Options:
Image
This values are example values for digital SLR cameras (3:2) ratio. If you use other camera (4:3 ratio) or (16:9 ratio) you need to set other values.
[..]the images are not properly centered.
Don't crop your thumbnails!

After changing of thumbnails sizes you need to recreate them.

Hi,

Thank you Benno.
I have changed the thumbnails sizes and recreated them.

It works well but only for 4 items. 2 items still have 2:3 ratio thumbnails (see screenshot).

I do not understand why these items do not have square thumbnails as set in the configuration.

Do you have an idea where does that come from?

Hi,
you should recreate the thumbnails from the images that aren't square.
backend -> Components -> Phoca Cart -> Products ->
Select the products from which the thumbnails should be recreated and click the Recreate Thumbnails button.
Image

Original images are = 1200x1200px
Large thumbnail = 640x640px
Medium thumbnail = 300x300px
Small thumbnail = 180x180px

Check before whether you have set these values.
See my first screenshot.

If the thumbnails are still not in the correct format, you may need to delete the catch. Browser and Joomla!

Kind regards,
Benno
