Can it do this?

Post by xgipper » 11 Jul 2021, 12:33

Hi
I need to run an initially simple online store as part of a site, to sell downloads (initially audio) probably using PayPal for sales. My questions:
  • Would Phoca Cart automate the sales process - ie once payment made dowmload made available, somehow?
  • Would customers need to create a Joomla login to buy?
  • Can it also offer the ability to pay to listen to audio, or even watch a video online (does it need hosting on my own server) without downloading?
Thanks for any pointers

Hi,

1) yes, when user pays with PayPal, then your server gets info about the successfull payment and the order status is automatically chnaged. Based on this change the file can be accessible in download area.

2) There is even guest checkout, so there is no need to login

3) There is no such specific option so this needs to be customized - to e.g. set some access rights after purchase and have a login area to watch or listen media

Thanks very much.
One more thing: does it also comply with rules around selling digital goods in Europe - as I understand it collecting sales tax, or VAT, in the country of purchase?

Hi, you can assign specific taxes per customer country:

This means, that users can get tax set in their countries.

But then collecting taxes should be done in some accounting software
