Any way to make filtering module persistent?

Is there any way to make the filtering module persistent? The complaint from our users is that they select all the filters they want to narrow it down to a list of say 20 products that fit their filters, but when they click on a product to view its details, then go back, it resets all the filtering and displays ALL the products again as opposed to their filtered ones. Any way to make it persistent across page loads?

Hi, as written an email, the filtering is based on url parameters because of SEO not on sessions (so the filtered page is always the same and direct link to this page exists). So for now there is no such option to have it stored in sessions
