Phoca Gallery Menu Module - Configure first level to be non-clickable

We use multiple levels of categories to order our pictures.

e.g.
1) 2016 Pictures (0 Pictures)
1.1) Halloween (267 Pictures)
1.2) Summer Barbecue (127 Pictures)
2) 2015 Pictures (0 Pictures)
2.1) Halloween (267 Pictures)
2.2) Summer Barbecue (127 Pictures)
3) 2014 Pictures (0 Pictures)
3.1) Halloween (267 Pictures)
3.2) Summer Barbecue (127 Pictures)

We tested the Phoca Gallery Menu Module (release 4.1.0 on Joomla 3.6) and like the functionality. The only caveat to us is that the first menu level (2016 Pictures, 2015 Pictures and 2014 Pictures) is clickable, we however would prefer just to have the sub-categories clickable, the first menu level shouldn't open anything when you click on it as the category doesn't hold any pictures anyway. Any possibility to achieve this?

Hi, I think, the only one way is to customize the javascript library in the module or customize the php and remove links when build the tree for the parent categories.
