Show Picasa albums in overview

Post by woodyf4u » 13 Jul 2014, 18:01

Beside Phoca Gallery, I have used wgPicasa for a couple of years.
With wgPicasa it is possible to show an overview of the Picasa albums of a Google user at one page.
I'm searching for an alternative cause wgPicasa will not be developed for Joomla! 3
So I hope Phoca Gallery can do the same.

I can't find a setting in Phoca Gallery where I can create this.
Who can tell me if this is possible or do I need to add an feature request?

What I mean is what I can not use with the extension wgPicasa anymore.
In wgPicasa I can set the account info of my Google Picasa account.
After that the extension will show the thumnails of every album in that Picasa account at one page.

Is it possible to create that with Phoca Gallery?

OK Jan,
I Hoped it would be possible te create an overview of all the albums of a Google Picasa account at one page.
Unfortunaly it is not possible with Phoca Gallery.
Can you create something like this in the near future?

In an other path, I am trying to find someone who can continue the developing op the extension wgPicasa.
The current developers don't continue their work for Joomla! 3.

Hi, which information should be displayed there, in which view (categories, category, etc.)

BTW - it is very hard to continue working on some other project - I know it from my experiences - programming is something like writing books, everybody uses own style and continuing based on some other style is always difficult and mostly it takes more time then writing it from scratch as you need to understand the previously written code before changing or improving it :-(

Basically only the thumbnails of the albums.
When a visitor clicks on an album thumbnail, the vistor will see the images in that album.

Now in Phoca Gallery, I have to add the album per category manually.
I have a website where the owner will add new albums to Picasa.
But she will not add every album manually to the website too.
So, when the website regognize the new album in Picasa, it should show a new thumbnail in the overview.

It would be fine if the title of the Picasa album can be published below the thumbnail, but that is not nessesary in first time.

I understand your explanation of coding an extension.
I don't have the skills to do that by myself.
But it is great there are people like you.
Thanks a lot for that great job. Thumbs up!
