Hi,
ok, this morning I have reveived your PM.
You don't want to publish your URL, that's completely ok, because I can see the progress on your page in the URL of your PM.
You wrote that the installed Phoca Photography Template disorganizes your site.
In my view, this is not correct. So that each of your categories is displayed as in
the demo of the template, you had to make some changes in the settings of the Component (as I wrote in my previous post):
1.) You have to find out what aspect ratio your original pictures have.
There are two aspect ratios that are most common today:
- 4:3 (mainly used by digital compact cameras)
- 3:2 (mainly used by digital SLR cameras)
Mobile phone cameras mostly use the HD format 16:9 (For this you would have to calculate the values yourself.)
2.) You have to change the size of the thumbnails depending on the result.
Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Thumbnails --> Thumbnail Generation Settings --> Images And Detail Window Size Settings -->
If the view should be like in
the demo, the values for 4:3 are:
Large Image Width: 640
Large Image Height: 481
Medium Image Width: 224
Medium Image Height: 168
Small Image Width: 112
Small Image Height: 84
Detail Window Width: 680
Detail window height: 560
Save & Close
for 3:2 the values are:
Large Image Width: 640
Large Image Height: 427
Medium Image Width: 224
Medium Image Height: 149
Small Image Width: 112
Small Image Height: 75
Detail Window Width: 680
Detail window height: 510
Save & Close
3.) Now you have to prevent the thumbnails from being cropped:
Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Thumbnails --> Thumbnail Generation Settings --> Crop Thumbnails = None
Save & Close
4.) Very important: All additional thumbnails must be created also:
Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Thumbnails --> Thumbnail Generation Settings -->
Enable Thumbnails Generation = Yes
Additional Thumbnails = All
Save & Close
5.) Now all thumbnails have to be recreated:
Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Images --> Recreate Thumbnails (Button)
Now all thumbnails will be created by pagination (normally 20 images per page). So you have to click through all the pages.
6.) The Phoca Photography Template works best with category view. The most easy way therefore is to create a menu/submenu entry for each subcategory (List of Images (Category View)) and hide the back button and categories view:
Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Category View --> Category View Settings -->
Display Back Button = No
Display Categories Views Back Button = No
Save & Close
7.) If you have done all this changes, the display should be much more similar to
the demo.
Kind regards,
Benno
