can I delete the original images when Phoca Gallery is done with thumb creation?

Hello,
I am using Phoca Gallery at my private website, an image-massive site journal.

At this time there are round about 20.500 images online.

Question:
is Phoca Gallery using the original uploaded images for any case or is it done when the thumbnails are created and so I can delete the rogiginals if they aren't used for another case (some direct linking or so).

Thanks
Stefan

Hi, see similar posts here in the forum, in short, original images are used:

- when thumbnails are recreated
- when images are downloaded
- when thumbnails are rotated
- for exif information
- for size, etc. information, ...

So you need to test it on some test server, if there will be no conflict on your side. Phoca Gallery will work without original images but you need to test if if you don't need the functions which are linked to original images.

OK thank you for the detailed reply.
So I think I won't touch the original images and, when webspace is full, upgrade the diskspace instead.
