Phoca Gallery doesn't work with PHP 7.1

Hello, my host recommends using PHP 7.1 or later but when I update from 7.0.33 to 7.1.30, I get this message when I open my photo gallery: "0 Error- Using $this when not in object context". I get the same message if I try PHP 7.2. I am using Phoca Gallery 4.3.18, and Joomla! 3.9.8. Thanks so much for any help!

set Error-reporting to max and enable system debugging to record the call-stack.

in addition to my last post, please verify whether all extensions (template, plugin,...) are up to date and compatible with the recommended PHP-Version.
