Hi Jan,
I don't quite understand what you're trying to tell me
Some minutes ago I again accessed my Phoca Gallery and now it doesn't work again. And I'm 100% sure that I did not change anything in the configuration.
What now came to my mind – I did the following:
1. Go to the home page of my website.
2. Go to the gallery using the "random image" module on the home page (in the right side bar).
3. Click a thumbnail --> 404 error.
4. Click another thumbnail --> 404 error.
5. Go to another category and click a thumbnail --> 404 error.
But then:
6. Manually go to the gallery using the menu link "Fotogalerie".
7. Go to some category and click a thumbnail --> works.
8. Go to another category using the "random image" (in the right side bar) and click a thumbnail --> now also works.
Then:
9. Go back to the home page via menu link "Home".
10. Go to the gallery using the "random image" module on the home page (in the right side bar).
11. Click a thumbnail --> again the 404 error.
It seems to me that the issue always happens when I navigate to the gallery using the "random image" module. When I use the menu link everything works correctly. Then, when I'm already inside the gallery, it also works using the "random image" module. This behavior is very strange.
Feel free to try it yourself:

What I see:
When I use the menu link, the URLs for the popup look like
http://ffu.nerdocracy.org/index.php/fotogalerie/56-17062007-sommerfest-2007/detail/1119-003?tmpl=component
When I use the "random image" module (only from outside the gallery!), the URLs look like
http://ffu.nerdocracy.org/index.php/component/phocagallery/56-17062007-sommerfest-2007/detail/1119-003?tmpl=component
So it seems to be an SEF issue – but I have a menu link to the gallery!
